It’s Saturday, December 19, 2020, 7:06 am and I’m sitting to write my first blog that has been in the works for most of my years. I figured, my first official blog should be an introduction to me, my family, my business and my passions. Quite simply, a quick quiet bio that hopefully gains access to why Kate & Company is so much more than a boutique; but a lifestyle that compliments us all.

I am a 43 year old lifelong resident of the 07762. Born and raised on Atlantic Ave, I filled my days biking around our beautiful town, swimming and playing at South End Beach, and growing into the coastal mama I’ve become. I graduated from Villanova University in 1999 with dreams of becoming a professor and published author. I had planned on maybe even applying to Trinity in Dublin, Ireland and seeing where the world took me. In the meantime, I took a position in Manhattan for a children’s clothing line as a merchandising assistant who soon became the head of their catalog design. I was 22, excited and in love...

Almost a year to the day I graduated college, my guy (now husband) proposed to me and soon my path took a hard right. I decided that commuting into the city was in fact not what I wanted; and NYC was in fact not where I was meant to be. I took a full time position working at Kate & Company and began a true love affair with my work.

We were married in December of 2001, bought our first house in 2002, and welcomed our first son in 2004, followed by his brother in 2006. We sold our first house (all 1000 sq feet of it) and bought our rendition of a fixer upper in 2008, a few weeks after my 31st bday. We packed a lot into those first ten years of marriage. And we began filling this home with love and rehab one little inch at a time... I’m shocked how quickly 13 years has gone & also quite proud of what we have accomplished.

I had the true luxury of being the “stay at home” parent for the better part of 12 years; yet I continued to make time for creating...  always keeping a hand on at the shop, and also consulting as a program administrator for Brookdale Community College (this allowed me to continue to write!). It soon became apparent that all my passions and dreams lie within the shop walls my mom created in 1995 and with my boys both in middle school and self sufficient I went all in on the shop in 2016 & I’m proud to say I became a partner this year!

This is just the beginning and I feel like my next chapter is going to be pretty exciting. Thank you all for following along on this journey (Kate & Company celebrated 25 years in business this September) and stay tuned for more about design, motherhood, life and whatever else pops up.

xoxo~ Kacey
